PyXy is a computerized auscultation device that provides expert-level lung and heart check-up including auscultation of normal sounds and chest infrasound, heart rate, blood oxygen saturation level, body temperature, and respiratory rate. All analyzed by artificial intelligence (AI) for accurate diagnostic data.
The first auscultation device that detects body sounds below the range audible to humans
PyXy interfaces with the user – doctor, nurse, home users – in a similar way as traditional stethoscopes. But in comparison to actual stethoscope technology it has several important advantages. It provides expert-level lung and heart check-up including:
- auscultation of normal sounds and chest sounds in the infrasound area: sounds below the range audible to humans (< 30Hz)
- heart rate
- blood oxygen saturation level
- body temperature
- respiratory rate
All data it measures are analyzed by artificial intelligence (AI) for accurate diagnostic data.
The non-invasive and user-friendly tool detects the first symptoms in very early stages of the disease. The PyXy device has already proven to be 90% sensitive for Pneumonia and recently showed very promising results in relation to managing COVID-19 disease.
Overall concept: the health monitoring system
The innovative interdisciplinary concept of this project is to supply patients at risk with a health monitoring system that uses machine learning / AI to continuously analyze their COVID-19 relevant cardio-respiratory parameters obtained from an intelligent sensor device and spot potential deterioration in their lung health during the pandemic situation.
The solution will comprise the following elements:
- PyXy device
- AI / machine learning models
- App for Android or iOS device
- Web interface
- Cloud platform: Both the app and web clients are connected to the cloud platform. This platform enables analysis using AI / machine learning models and provides connection and synchronization between the mentioned elements. It includes an open API for further integration with external e-health/IT systems and patient’s record.
Improved screening and monitoring service in nursing homes
Our primary target patient group is the elderly, with underlying chronic conditions. We see our solution used primarily by formal caregivers at nursing homes where the most vulnerable patients are concentrated, and in patients’ homes as part of home care services.
In the formal care setting (nursing home care or home care) it is a health professional (nurse or assistant nurse) using PyXy to check the patient’s health parameters: body sounds, pulse oximetry, temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and cycles, and record these under a patient’s profile using the app on either a work phone or tablet. As the app is connected to the cloud, it provides AI analysis of the collected biomarkers, and allows to interpret the findings in context of known patient’s history (provided that it exists). The analysis output is presented back to the user: on one end, it’s the user operating PyXy and using the app, on the other end it can also be reviewed by another health professional remotely through the web interface or integration with an e-health / IT system. The solution will serve two purposes during the pandemic situation:

Direct COVID-19 impact: At any time have an overview of the patient population in nursing homes or home care, detect suspicious cases at the earliest onset of symptoms, isolate and take clinical measures.
